Food and beverage businesses providing wifi - attention

Are you a food and beverage business license holder running a restaurant, cafe, etc.? If so, and you know you are now required by the Malaysian government to provide free wifi, please take very serious attention.

The recent amendments to the Evidence Act 1950 now places you in danger because you are now made responsible for anyone using your network making a tweet, publish a comment etc. You will be held guilty unless you can prove that it wasn't you. Can you do that? Even the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) itself sometimes says it doesn't have the technical resources to find the real culprits?

Would you want to continue providing free wifi under such dangerous circumstances? I think not, but then you will run foul of the food and beverage business license.

Do learn more about it. Read the Center of Independent Journalism press release at Evidence Act 1950 Amendments seriously flawed.
